A few years ago I took a ridiculous trip to europe to see the 24hrs of the Ring and the Monaco GP. I put together this quick guide to seeing the Monaco GP on a budget - I had to leave out things how we snuck into the pits during qualifying as mechanics but there’s a bunch of useful stuff in the article. The race is this weekend so if your friends are there, send them the link or use it to plan your trip next year.

Disagree about watching from the hill, i’ve watched the race from there twice. You get a great view of the circuit from the tunnel exit all the way to Rascasse and you get to see the whole pit lane too. Plus there is a screen for the part you can’t see. Tickets there are reasonable too qualifying and race day being cheaper than race day on its own at Silverstone. I was fortunate enough to be there in 2004 at the peak of the 3.0 V10 era. The sound of the pack exiting the tunnel together on the first lap was unbelievable.

My method of viewing the Monaco GP was simple: up on the hill so you’re looking down at the entire race. Was there at 8:00AM, so I got a spot next to the parapet, so I had a handy place to plop my camera gear. Then it lightly rained.
I thought, ‘You’re only gonna see this race this one time—tough thru it.’ I got dried out by the time the race began. Course the spectators became so thick, if I left I would’ve lost my place so I stood there for eight hours preserving my fantastic viewpoint. Thankfully I had the Bladder of Steel.

We were supposed to grab a drink in Monaco that year.
Instead - I ended up separating from my now (thankfully) ex wife and you had a blast.
Damn you.

How to spectate:
Step 1: Record on DVR
Step 2: Lie on couch with beer in one hand and remote in other.
Step 3: Enjoy Hobbs saying “clag”.

Start working at home with Google! It’s by-far the best job I’ve had. Last Wednesday I got a brand new BMW since getting a check for $6474 this - 4 weeks past. I began this 8-months ago and immediately was bringing home at least $77 per hour. I work through this link, go to tech tab for work detail.

My best friend’s ex-wife makes Bucks75/hr on the laptop. She has been unemployed for eight months but last month her income with big fat bonus was over Bucks9000 just working on the laptop for a few hours. Read more on this site.....

What we usually do is set up a tv on the balcony overlooking the track, that way we can watch what happens on the parts of the track out of our field of view, and also, lot’s of champagne before heading to the after party....

I was thinking about going on a whim but can’t get the SNCF website to show any availability. It feels like the whole country is on strike so I’m not sure why I’m surprised?

I’m not far from Monaco and it’s thundery now, been building all day so wouldn’t be shocked if it was big enough to last until race time. Like you say the forecasts indicate it probably will be a wet race.

Eddie Irvine was awesome! He did a great job of keeping his antics (relatively)quiet but some of the stories Ive heard are almost unbelievable.

I kind of remember that message. There were a few that were supposed to join us and couldn't make it for one reason or another. Oh well. You're in a better place now! time to go see the GP next year

That was the reason I pushed to hard to go that year! Last year before the turbos. I had to hear them in Monaco!

Saw your question in the sponsored thread about a 20k vintage sports car and couldn’t reply.
You should be able to find a decently sorted Lotus Europa for less than 20k.
